The 2022 Queen Elizabeth II Tribute Gold One-eighth Sovereign – $79

We were all saddened to hear of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on 8th of September 2022. In tribute to the life of service and devotion of Queen Elizabeth II, a new one-eighth sovereign was announced, with both sides designed by Jody Clark, designer of the Fifth (and final) portrait of Her Late Majesty that appears on Britain’s current coinage.

Struck in solid 22-carat gold and with a limitation of 19,999, the portrait depicts Her Late Majesty in the tiara and necklace of her wedding day, and wearing a brooch gifted to her by her late husband HRH Prince Philip. This portrait will only ever be used on this series of tribute sovereigns, making it a must-have commemorative piece.

The 2019 New Zealand First Ever Gold Quarter Sovereign – $119

Only a handful of countries and colonies in the Empire produced sovereigns. New Zealand, for example, didn’t. That was until 2019, when the New Zealand Treasury took the exceptional decision to produce a gold quarter sovereign coin in honour of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Queen Victoria.

Limited to just 4,999 coins worldwide, these are the first gold quarter sovereigns in history from this nation! The reverse features an effigy of the young portrait of Queen Victoria; the first monarch of New Zealand, since it was established as a colony in 1840 when British sovereignty was proclaimed.

The 2019 Concorde 50th Anniversary Gold Quarter Sovereign – $119

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Concorde’s first flight a new gold quarter sovereign has been minted, and just like the world-first aircraft it celebrates, the coin too, is the first of its kind in the world.

Struck in solid 22-carat gold, the coin features Concorde’s distinctive nose section; this feature has been struck in relief and given a reflective finish that shines out against the coin’s frosted background. A special ‘Concorde 50’ logo denotes the 50th anniversary. Only 4,999 have been minted which is an incredibly small quantity.

The 2022 Platinum Jubilee Tower in Bloom Silver Five Pound – $125

This year, the nation celebrated Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee; the first of its kind in British history. For an event of such magnitude, a Silver Proof Five Pound coin was minted. The design features the Tower of London, an historic monument that, for centuries, has been closely associated with the monarchy in Britain. Also in the design is an arrangement of summer flowers, in full colour!

Minted in .925 Silver Proof finish (highest possible quality), this five pound is limited to just 2,022 coins and will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, making this the perfect gift to mark the biggest Jubilee celebration in British monarch history.

The 2022 Tutankhamun Discovery 100th Anniversary Gold Quarter Sovereign – $129

This year marks the 100th anniversary of one of the richest and most important archaeological discoveries of all time; Tutankhamun’s tomb. To celebrate, these world’s first sovereign coins have been released with a rich black enamel finish simulating the magnificent treasures emerging from the dark. The genius behind this design approach is renowned artist Matt Dent, designer of the current one, two, five, ten, twenty and fifty pence coins in circulation in Britain.

Limited to just 999 coins worldwide, this quarter sovereign features the most famous of all Tutankhamun’s treasures: the magnificent gold death mask of the young Pharaoh. Even today, the name ‘Tutankhamun’ is still associated with the riches of ancient Egypt, and Howard Carter must rank as the most famous archaeologist of all time.

Queen Elizabeth II ‘The Jubilee Equestrian Portrait’ Crown Set – $139

Queen Elizabeth II is the only British monarch ever to have celebrated a Platinum Jubilee. She is also the only monarch for whom Britain has produced commemorative crown coins not only for her coronation, but also for all of her major jubilees. Three of those jubilees have included a heritage-style portrait on horseback – not the usual side profile of her head but an ‘Equestrian Portrait’ depicting her seated on horseback.

This set includes an original example of all three of these crown-sized commemorative coins for Her Late Majesty’s Jubilees: the 1977 Silver Jubilee, the 2002 Golden Jubilee, and the 2022 Platinum Jubilee. What a wonderful historical ‘cycle’, that features a style of portrait which dates back to the very first English silver crown minted in the year 1551 for King Edward VI.
